How do I give VIP customers early access to new products on Shopify?

Create a smart collection for your drop and keep it off your main navigation menu. Share the direct URL only with SMS VIP subscribers, then add it to your menu when the public launch begins.

“Without this step, your early access is just a marketing claim; with it, VIP subscribers are genuinely shopping pieces the public cannot yet reach.”
— Mia, BoutiquePulse Episode 17

The trick is making your early-access collection live at a direct URL but invisible to general store visitors. In Shopify, set the available date on each drop product to your VIP early-access time. Build a smart collection using a drop-date tag, but do not add that collection to your main navigation menu. Only your VIP SMS subscribers receive the direct link.

Twenty-four hours later, update the available dates to your public launch time and add the collection to your main menu. This makes VIP status genuinely meaningful — subscribers are shopping pieces the public literally cannot reach yet.

When VIP subscribers buy out popular sizes during early access, update the listing to show "sold out in VIP access" and add a note inviting shoppers to join the SMS list to shop first next time. This turns potential frustration into a compelling recruitment tool for your most valuable marketing channel. The sellout becomes proof that VIP access matters.
